More New Songs

So far, we've learned 18 songs, although we think we've agreed to bin Smells Like Teen Spirit. Is that a mistake? I dunno, we watched Trigger Happy the other week and they ended with Teen Spirit and the world went nuts so maybe we shouldn't be too hasty.

We've also put together a list of new songs to learn, another 15 in total! Here's what's next on the hit list:

I think this lot is probably a bit more mainstream than some of our earlier choices but still in the same ball park. Hopefully they'll all get to gig stage but there's some definite challenges in there...

First Steps Out of the Garage

Last night, Killing Amy went to the jam night at the Sorry Head in Exeter which has quickly become a magnet for musos. We've been rehearsing together for about 4 months and it seemed time to see what people thought of it.

I must admit, it was a bit daunting having so many brilliant musicians in the audience, and when we got up to play (we were the first band after the house band), I couldn't stop shaking.

We banged out 4 songs - Bad Religion's 20th Century Digital Boy, Lady Gaga's Pokerface, Pendulum's Propane Nightmares and Biffy Clyro's Who's Got a Match and it went pretty well, and seemed to be well received by everyone there. 10 mins later, I stopped shaking, had a beer and was ready to do it again! :-) I can't wait to do a full gig.

So Who Are Killing Amy Anyway?

Killing Amy was dreamed up as a side project whilst John and I were playing with The REOFFENDERS. We'd played with Matt from Trigger Happy ages ago and had wanted to do something with him ever since. We all liked the same type of music, ie modern alternative rock and thought we'd give it a whirl.

We spent a year trying to get a full band lineup sorted - I think we actually had 4 line up changes and only 3 rehearsals including a bassist that we never actually met, which has gotta be some sort of record,! At that point, John said "Sod it! I'll play bass!". Well that was one instrument sorted anyway ;-)

Late last year, I spotted Manuel on the bandmix.co.uk website. We met up for a chat and couldn't stop chattering about bands we liked, gigs we'd been to, etc. There was an audible click.

So four months on, we have 16 songs in the bag and we're working towards doubling that so that we can get out there and gig, hopefully in the Autumn. We can't wait :-D

Oh and who's Amy? We're never going to have a satisfying answer to that one because it was just a random idea, but I do think I might get creative and think of some different answers to tell people ;-)
